Day 2, Omaha Nebraska

Day 2, Iowa accident

A typical Ford SUV rollover. A Ford SUV rolls over and it slows down the traffic (almost still).
I recorded the accident but there is a problem with my camcorder. Not all of my videos are coming out OK.

Incredible amount of wealth

I'm in Denver, Colorado right now.
I couldn't find internet last night so I'm uploading my files tonight.

I few notes about the road trip, so far.
I'm simply amazed by the land I traveled. From early Ohio to the entrance of Colorado, the land is harvested in all directions until the horizon. It is an incredible amount of wealth. That is Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska. Only in Colorado you start to see land that is not harvested.
At some point in Colorado I thought I was in the middle of nowhere or in wild west. The population is so low you don't see anything around.
The terrain is very flat. Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa are dead flat. In Nebraska there are some very small hills (still very flat). But I saw the Rocky Mountains today. Tomorrow I'll be going through the mountains. I also completed half of my trip.

It is very dangerous to play with an mp3 player or a gps device when driving.
It is more dangerous than driving fast.
So do I play with them: Yes, I have to.

His American wife made borek (this is Turkish) for the whole gathering.

Outlook healthy for health care Web sites, but use caution

Although you can't singlehandedly fix the woes of national health care that are spotlighted in the movie Sicko, many free Web sites at least put a bit more power in your hands to manage personal wellness or a medical crisis. Just share your data wisely.

Confessions of a Linux Fan: 10 Things You Might Want To Know Before Switching Over To Linux

Linux fans (myself included) love to argue to Windows users how much better the Linuxes are than Microsoft Windows. Now don't get me wrong, I am not posting this to disprove that Linuxes, BSD's, or any of the *nixes are better than Windows, they really are. However (and there's always a however) we tend to be very selective on what we tell you when it comes to the minor details. Take this as a confession, as an admission of those details you might not necessarily like about Linux.

Does Europe owe its institutional development to Ottoman Turkey?

Every Turkish schoolboy grows up learning about the multitudes of contributions Turkey has made to Western civilization. My favorite one, not in the textbooks strangely enough, is the croissant. The story goes that the croissant was first concocted by Viennese pastry chefs in celebration of the collapse of the Viennese siege by the Ottomans in 1683, with the crescent on the Ottoman flags serving as the inspiration for the design. Well maybe it is just a legend, but it sounds too good to reject outright ...

Guide to Prepaid Phones

Prepaid cell phone plans used to be sketchy alternatives for those with less than stellar credit ratings, but not anymore. They can be ideal for anyone who's had enough of restrictive two-year contracts, scary overage fees, or micromanagement of cell phone minutes. Likewise, while they used to be more expensive than traditional plans, prepaid costs have begun to fall, and the plans have become just another way to break into the cell phone game. As the popularity of prepaid has skyrocketed, even the big brand-name carriers have jumped onto the bandwagon.

Is It Still Cheese?

Leave a slice of American cheese on a windowsill and after weeks it will dry, darken in color and curl. But rarely will it mold. Individually wrapped orange cheese slices melt smoothly on burgers and taste great straight from the package, but in most cases these soft slivers of heaven aren't technically "cheese" at all. More likely, they fall under the title of "pasteurized process cheese," "pasteurized process cheese product" or "pasteurized process cheese food." ....
